Overview American Institutes for Research (AIR) is one of the largest behavioral and social science research organizations in the world. AIR’s mission is to conduct and apply the best behavioral and social science research towards improving people’s lives, with a special emphasis on the disadvantaged. Much of this work informs the development and implementation of policies that require and produce significant quantities of diverse data. We are looking for a User Interface (UI) designer who can design and shape unique, user-centric websites and experiences. The candidate will have experience working in agile teams with a UX lead, developers, testers, and project managers. The candidate will be able to make deliberate design decisions and to translate any given user experience into a smooth and intuitive interaction, taking into account the clients’ needs and constraints. This position is located within AIR’s Technical Solutions (TS) group, which supports a variety of innovative technologies that meet client needs and project outcomes which reflect AIR’s mission. Responsibilities Responsibilities include:
Create, improve, and use wireframes, prototypes, style guides, user flows, and effectively communicate your interaction ideas using any of these methods Present and be able to defend design decisions, which are based on design thinking and fundamental principles of design, including color schemes, visual weight, etc. Work closely with the UX lead and developers to ensure that designs meet the UX specifications and are implementable by the development team Act as backup to the UX lead to create wireframes and UX solutions when needed Present designs, as needed, to the project and client teams
